Map making

So I'm in the market for a map editing tool, and I'm torn between Fractal Mapper and Campaign Cartographer. It seems like FM can do everything, but CC can make higher quality things. However, I have a feeling the learning curve on CC is higher. It also looks like CC will cost more to get all the add-ons I would like to have to do the maps I want to make. Does anyone have experience with either of these?

The "family" Dark Golden Age game has expanded to six players, and everyone is really excited. Those that made it on Friday night had a blast as they explored the Tomb of Dun'hor. They encountered an arcane devourer which is a creature template I am working to create. The idea behind it is that it is an undead capable of absorbing magic in its vicinity. The absorbed magic can then be used to cast spells or as a retributive area effect when it is destroyed. The popularity of beastfolk is also up with a woribog (human-boar) and houndling (human-dog) now in the party. The sixth player is looking at the Summoner class from the Advanced Players Guide for Pathfinder Role Playing Game, and that will likely force me to work some on the cosmology of the setting.
